About Ken Nichols

Cars/ Trucks by Kencars & Friends...! I have been in the Auto Fleet & Retail Sales Business for over 30 +years... I have had the pleasure of taking care of two ex-governors of the state of Arizona... Also, a couple of movie stars, and many customers who were personal friends of the dealership owners & many professional basketball/ football players. My mission is, as it has always been, that the customer comes first and to treat them like you would want to be treated... My customers become like family... When they need a vehicle, they come back to me. Now, why do they do that? They know how I do business & there are no surprises... You could think of me, as your insurance/real estate agent, someone who has your best interest at heart. I have customers who have purchased 3, 4, or 5 or more vehicles over my 30+ years in the car business. I always finish my deals with the old fashion Handshake... My customers become my friends...! My goal is as it has always been & that is to save my customers time and money on any vehicle purchases that I have assisted you with... After 30 years + in the auto fleet & Dir position... Nowadays with all problems associated with the Microchip problems have turned the car business upside down for the manufacturers... They are scrambling just to keep it all going & in most cases, they are shutting down production for most plants around the country... Building some vehicles & leasing storage acre lots around airports and other locations, to wait for microchips... They bring the unfinished vehicles back to the factory to install the chips and send them on the way to the dealers...! With this situation in mind, it is very difficult to negotiate any discount on your behalf resulting from a short supply of vehicle inventory...! I will always give my best effort to you... However, on USED cars & Trucks, it is a different problem, or at least that is what I have found... Yes, when you (Customer) call for the vehicle, they will always ask you their inflated asking price...! They will try to close you however when I call and know who to ask for and what to say, I am usually able to get some kind of Discount for you…! I do work very hard for you & that means I just don't make one call...! It may take a phone call or two, but I will try to make it happen for you... The last used vehicle was in West Virginia, and I was able to save my cousin $2000+... So you see, anything is possible, you just have to work to make it happen... Please give me a call on my Google # @ 602-935-5206 & my email address is: redwagoncars@gmail.com Regards, Ken... www.kencars.com

Ken’s Personal Story About Acquiring My 1st Used Chevy Car, 1st New Chevy Car, 1st New Ford Truck, So Now On My 46th Vehicle…!

My Text #No 602-670-7569My Google #: 602-935-5206                       Emailredwagoncars [at] Gmail [dot] com

Now Ford, Chevy, GMC & Ram… All Mfg America…3  Now on a personal note, I must add that I have owned a Chevy 2500, crew cab, and also a Ford F-150 Extra Cab… My 1st car was used, but to me, it seems like it was new & it was a 1947 Chevrolet a 2-Dr, sedan… My 2nd car was a 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible… In both cars, I was 100% happy & satisfied with the used one, and 500% satisfied with the new one… They were a great choice in both cases with the Chevy product..! In 1979 my wife & I were planning to build our 1st home in Scottsdale, AZ., and were looking to purchase my 1st new truck for the building job… Yes, I choose a 1979 Ford F-150 & as I remember I paid appx $7500 for it… It did the job, 150%, of the time, on almost any job requirement and some were very difficult, load-wise as I recall…!                                                                                                                                             Now on the Dodge vehicle… After working for two different Dodge dealers in Arizona for many years as their Fleet Dir, Dodge got in my blood, and it happens honestly for me both owning and selling trucks and even the Cars/Minivans/SUV!      So after I started my new fleet mgr position at the dealership the new Dodge Ram truck was introduced in the mid to late 90s. I was so impressed with the new Ram truck & new design, that I purchased a 1995 2500 LB 4×2, and it was such a pleasure to drive, with all the power with the Cummings diesel. Oh my goodness…!  I just couldn’t believe how great it felt to be up high with such a great view of the traffic, which I hadn’t experienced for quite some time & it just felt good to be back on the road driving my new Dodge truck…I just can’t find the words to describe my feelings about what I had to share with my new and old customers…! Yes, I know you must know the rest of the story about that truck, and where it has come to today…

Also, in 2003 I started seeing their new redesigned Ram as they arrived at our lot at Earnhardt’s Dodge, (The No 1 Dodge DLR In The World For 9 Years in a Row, with my fleet dept help and my effort we make that happen…! )  So when that new truck came in, I just had to test it out, Oh my Goodness what an improvement over the 95, that I just couldn’t pass it up…@ I can’t name all of them It was just unbelievable… So there you go again, Ken…! As Pres Ronald Reagan used to say & yes I did… I purchased a new 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 4×4 Crew Cab Short B, SRW … All white, and talk about a proud person of the new truck, it was me, and it made me so happy that I had made that purchase of this new resigned truck from Chrysler, and also that I really had a story to tell my customers & my friends about my truck and all the features, including towing ratings, and what it would tow with new improved diesel, there was too much to tell, & yes I was excited, right…!  Guess what, that new Dodge Ram set just outside my office window at the Dodge Store!  When a customer came in looking for a Dodge Ram, of course, I now had something to show… I had it loaded with everything from a Brush Guard on the front/ Airbags on the rear axle/ Special running boards, a 100 gal diesel fuel tank installed in the bed/ a special monitor system to see the air pressure in both the truck and trailer… So you can see, I was ready to roll… You would not believe just how many new Dodge Ram Diesel I sold from my office window, especially after the Power test drive…!  My other Dodges were the Intrepid sedan, It was a new-design sedan… I loved it so much, that I had it wrapped with the Dodge Ram logo on the hood, and my Fleet dept advertising along with my name & contact all over the side doors, and the rear with great messages, on saving money by contacting our fleet dept… Last but now least was the new redesign, Durango, with new fancy lights all across the rear… Now that was just one of the great options on that SUV, and it drove great and yes it had seating 7 complete with rear air and air-cooled seats for driver & passenger… A necessary feature for your driving pleasure here in Arizona…! So as you can see, I have had personal experience owning, enjoying, testing & putting to real lifetime uses and experiences on all, except GMC until late 2022… My story to follow…  Yes, here I go again, Right… I loved President, Ronald Reagan, he was the man of my time…!

Now back to the Trucks, On the American mfg let’s say GMC trucks are making inroads in product development, we all have seen the commercial of people from all walks of life carrying the tailgates from the new GMC trucks… With this new design, folks have the convenience of almost walking into the bed of the truck…!  I can’t imagine just how this one added feature produced unbelievable Truck sales…!  (Now on a personal note, I hadn’t had a GMC product ever… However, in 2022, I wanted to get back into a truck.  Also, I wanted a smaller truck, so I decided to Factory Order a GMC Canyon Denali Crew Cab, 4×2… At that time, there was a shortage of them to test drive, but I went ahead and did a factory order… It took three months, from Sept till Dec, before I received my new truck in the Cherry Red Tint Coat, great color, and I love it … Loads of features… So now I am a real member of the big three…!

BELOW IS ME & MY 1960 CHEVY IMPALA CONVERTIBLE! AS I MENTION EARLIER… BOY, I’m Thinking Just Cool…! Cool…!  What Do You Think? & ON THE 2ND PHOTO BELOW, IS MY USED 1947 CHEVY WAS USED, AT THAT TIME TO ME IT WAS LIKE A NEW CAR, I APPRECIATED IT SO   MUCH AS I WORKED SO HARD FOR IT & MY MOTHER HELPED ME. I WAS SO PROUD, AS I THINK I WAS THE ONLY KID IN HI SCHOOL WITH HIS OWN CAR…! $650, WAS A LOT $$$ IN 1955…!  NEXT WAS ME BESIDE MY 1979 FORD F-150, JUST BREAKING GROUND TO OUR 1ST NEW HOME, ONCE WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO BUILD A HOME, WE ON TO BUILD TWO MORE… Yea! NEXT WAS THE 2003 DODGE RAM 3500 4X4 Q CAB SB SRW… NOW, THIS WAS A WORKHORSE, AS YOU CAN SEE WE HAD A 30 FT 5TH WHEEL, WITH TRIPLE SLIDES, 4000 GEN, FULLY LOADED…SO THE TOTAL TOWING WEIGHT WAS APPS 13000 LBS, AND WHEN GOING UP THE LONGEST STEEPEST HILLS, IT WOULD ACCELERATE ANY TIME ON THE HILL, AND IT NEVER GAVE UP… THE POWER WAS JUST UNBELIEVABLE…!

SHARING MY THOUGHTS WITH YOU ON MY JOURNEY INTO THE AUTO SALES PROFESSION

Now that I have my blog site up and running, I thought that Ken Nichols, myself, would write a blog of just how I found my way to selling cars/trucks. First, about my first car, a 1947 Chevrolet at I bought for $650 money that I earned working during my school vacation in the grocery store and a little help from my Mother. I was the only student in my HS that had a car, yea!  Then moved to Akron, Ohio & took a job working for Firestone T&R. In those days, I felt I was doing good, and I decided to see if I could buy a brand-new car. I loved the inviting styling of the 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible… I couldn’t believe it, but GMAC approved my loan, and there I was in that my new Chevy Convertible, all white, lots of chrome & bright red leatherette interior, Life was good … The price was $3400.00. My how times have changed. Can you believe it?   After getting this new wonderful car, I was hooked. I always thought about selling cars, but just for some reason maybe fear of not being able to do the job, I just don’t know. I just never checked it out…  I took a lot of other jobs, over the years, and as I worked them it was always in the back of my mind why don’t you just go sell cars. So after many years, and building 2/3 houses, an offer was presented to me and I just decided to go for it…!  I first started in the retail end of the business but didn’t like the way they were dealing with customers, and that was it was not very professional… I wanted to do my it way, and that is to be professional, treat the customers the way you would want to be treated.
In 1987, I found a dealer in Scottsdale, AZ, called Linda Brock Auto Plaza. I ask for the Fleet Manager’s job, and it was a done deal. So I worked there for eight years and had a wonderful experience working for Mrs. Brock, she was a great dealership owner. After a year or so there, I seem to become her “right-hand” salesperson…  I ended up dealing with two governors of the state of Arizona… Many professional ballplayers & a couple of movie stars which I never thought that I would ever meet, it was great… It has been a wonderful experience… You see the way that I take care of my customers was I was always fair, honest & upfront when quoting the customers the prices on the vehicles… My goal was always to save the customer as much money as I could, & at the same time help eliminate the hassle sometimes associated with the car buying process. Some folks think buying a car is like going to the dentist…?  That’s Not the way I do it…  I take any and all pain out of the process. Now, after 30 years off & on in the business, I have some customers who have purchases four/five or more vehicles from me over the years. The reason is Yes, at the end of eight years at Linda Brock Auto Plaza in Scottsdale, AZ… It was time to go to the next chapter in my auto sales career…simple, they know how I do business & there are no surprises. Just happy customers…!
Yes, at the end of eight years at the same Linda Brock Auto Plaza in Scottsdale, AZ… It was time to go to the next chapter in my auto sales career…!
